According to Falstaff, the Rote Wand Gourmet Hotel is one of the most enjoyable destinations of the year. In the newly published Falstaff Guides 2021 there are no less than 3 fantastic awards. It was probably the most beautiful news that reached Joschi Walch last week, for a long time. As part of the Restaurant Guide 2021, he was awarded “Gastronomer of the Year 2021“. Equally pleasing is that the Rote Wand Chef’s Table, under the direction of Max Natmessnig, is one of the best restaurants in Austria with a sensational 98 points.
Joschi Walch, together with his wife Natascha, formed the Gasthof into what Falstaff describes as a “world-class gourmet hideaway.” For him, the kitchen is the spiritual center of the hotel. He knew that even when his mom was still cooking. But after his training and a few stays abroad, he knew it even better. Food has been on his mind every day since. Of course, in the two seasons when he himself was head chef at the Rote Wand. But also in the years that followed, when he worked with his staff to ensure that every single dish sent out of the kitchen met the highest standards. He emphasizes that this, of course, also has to do with the cooking skills of their employees.

Breakfast served at the table consisting of regional products, delicious muesli variations & freshly prepared sweet and egg dishes of your choice. In the afternoon – also friendly served at the table – perfect drinks and delicious snacks are waiting for all those who want to make themselves comfortable in the new Rote Wand Bar & Lounge. In the evening, you can choose between 3 or 4 toques. But one thing is for sure, both in the hotel restaurant and at the Rote Wand Chef’s Table gourmets get their money’s worth.
