Skiing

Zug / Lech is part of Ski Arlberg, the greatest skiing area in Austria: it is now also officially the best skiing area in the world*.

Not only is it the cradle of alpine skiing but also – on the Zugerberg line – it is home to the Walch´s Rote Wand Gourmet Hotel. Ski-in, ski-out is the magic word that, in just a few minutes, transports you from your breakfast table to the slopes.

An average of 7 metres of new snow per winter and 68% mechanically snow-covered pistes make Ski Arlberg into one of the most varied skiing areas assured of snow in the world. At altitudes between 1,300 and 2,800 metres, 88 state-of-the-art cable cars and lifts await you – many of which featuring the Arlberg invention of seat heating – 23 skiing conveyor belts on the nursery slopes and the beginners’ areas, 305 km of ski runs at all degrees of difficulty, 200 km of deep-snow slopes, over 1,000 top-trained snow sport instructors in numerous ski schools, fun parks, permanent racing tracks and the loveliest freeride runs to be found near and far.

The “White Ring” is the greatest experience around for enthusiastic skiers. The legendary skiing trail from Lech, via Zürs, to Zug and Oberlech is something you have to have done. At last once in their lives. Naturally, the more often, the better.

Incidentally, the slopes on the Arlberg are not only long, but also full of variety. 10% of all pistes are perfect for beginners, 50% are ideal for advanced skiers and 40% are perfect for experts.

If skiing on the Arlberg alone isn’t enough for you, take advantage of the only place in Austria you can book a helicopter to enjoy an unforgettable day heli-skiing.

*www.skigebiete-test.de voted Ski Arlberg the best skiing area in the world in 2017.
